Podcast Appearance With Seize Your Business

By Ryan Siebert
Custom Home Builder

I was recently asked to be a guest on the Seize Your Business podcast with Kevin O’Flaherty and Jim Waszak.  I’m always amazed at what you can learn from telling your own story when you have good people that are willing to listen.

My company has gone from being a primarily home flipper, to building new construction homes, to most recently entering the custom home building industry.  Along the way to becoming a custom home builder we have learned a lot about ourselves and the company we are striving to become.  I found myself learning even more about my business as I shared my story on the Seize Your Business podcast.

Kevin O’Flaherty and Jim Waszak do a phenomenal job allowing their guests to talk through their lessons.  As a small business owner you sometimes need an outside perspective and an ear to listen to you to develop your thought process.

The topic we discussed on air was about not being afraid to ask questions.  As a small business owner of a custom home building and remodeling company I often find myself making decisions without anyone’s opinion.  I think it is important to develop relationships with individuals that you can trust to give your their honest opinion when it comes to leading your business.  Sometimes you need outside influences, those who know little about your company.  Other times you need to have relationships with those who are important to your business.

The key in any aspect of your life, but especially when you are running a business, is to ask for help.  Don’t be afraid to talk things out when you have a difficult decision to make.  Often times when you tell your story you will hear the flaws and know exactly where you need to clean up your mess before getting any feedback.  The unfortunate reality is we are not always going to get to talk on someone’s podcast every time we have a tough decision to make.  Build your success around those who are willing to give you honest feedback so you can take your business and your life to a higher level.
