Naperville Sprawling Ranch

We chose SG Builders to gut and remodel a ranch house in Naperville’s Cress Creek. Ryan and his team were very transparent on what was realistic and laid out a very detailed Cost-plus work plan and budget that gave us deep insight into what subcontractors should do. There were several very memorable positives. Danielle, the designer in the team brought imagination, deep experience, expertise with materials and vendors, plus flexibility. She was able to accommodate our preferences in lighting, kitchen and bathroom fixtures seamlessly. One highlight was the new powder room half bath that we constructed in the place of a closet near the entry to the home. Another was the front door replacement in black with gold accents. The most magical thing was her input to design of the large granite kitchen island with its waterfall edge facing the fireplace. She worked well as a partner to the lady of the house. Greg, the Construction Manager, brought deep experience to what could be achieved with taking out walls, lifting a beam, and blowing out the ceiling in the fireplace room to achieve the modern look we were seeking. The fit and finishes met our high expectations, achieving the “luxury hotel “ feeling we wanted throughout the first floor. Ryan, as the General Contractor, impressed us as willing to literally roll up his sleeves to make things happen with timeliness and iron out unexpected bumps in the road for a mature couple with very high expectations. Overall, they were careful not to cut corners, they used quality materials, and nudged us to stay realistic about costs in today’s economy. In summary, SG helped us an achieve our vision of revitalizing a 45 year old house for a new century. We were able to save the elegant mill work and the accentuate the glass wall feel of the east side of the house to bring nature in, from several directions. SG was a joy to work with!
