Lombard Garage Addition – With A Second Story

This home transformation started with a simple goal — to replace a detached garage with something more functional and connected to the main house. What our clients ended up with was so much more.

By adding a front-load attached garage, we completely redefined the curb appeal of the property, giving it the look and feel of a two-story new construction home. The design balances modern appeal with practical function, and the result is both beautiful and efficient.

To stay within budget, we got creative with materials—blending the home’s existing cedar siding with new LP SmartSide—a combination that added contrast, texture, and a fresh, updated aesthetic. The garage was also designed to comfortably fit the homeowner’s large truck, an important detail that made the new addition truly work for their family’s lifestyle.

Inside, the new layout allowed for a spacious mudroom, a feature missing from the original home but one that now adds daily convenience and organization.

Above the garage, we created a second-story entertainment suite that’s as flexible as it is functional. The open den area provides room for their young family to spread out, while the adjoining office/bedroom and full bathroom make it the perfect setup for weekend guests or work-from-home days.

This addition not only enhances how the family lives day-to-day but also adds lasting value and modern curb appeal—proving that smart design and construction can truly transform a home.
