Finished Basement Company in Naperville

Finished Basement

Finished basements are the dream project of every large family.  Does a theater room sound like something that would benefit you too?  As a finished basement company in Naperville we can give you specific details and plans for your finished basement that are sure to put a smile on your face.

Today’s finished basements are coming in with requests for golf simulator plans, full kitchen wet bars, additional bathrooms, and private areas only accessible by certain family members.  The typical basement remodeling project has changed from carpet and a few can lights to airplane landing strips of lighting, waterproof flooring, open ceilings, and modern designs. SG Home Builders can take on all of this and more, giving you the feel of your very own commercial location.

  • Construction
  • Occupancy

There is one exception for all renovation projects.  The Preliminary Project Review is a two step process.

What can you expect? The Preliminary Project Review

For most clients taking on a renovation is answering the question of should we renovate, or should we sell our home and purchase a new home? Our preliminary project review will be done in two steps:

  • On Site Review
  • Estimate Presentation

On Site Review

With a renovation it is important that we understand what we are working with.  We want to view the existing space and get a feel for what is possible.  For finished basements we get to enjoy the fun of designing with a blank canvas.  Our design team loves to work with the layout possibilities, but also keep in mind budget saving opportunities.  For example, a finished basement with a wet bar makes sense in one location from a design perspective.  However, from a cost perspective another location may be more efficient.  Have no fear, we will give you both options so you understand which one you want more.

Layout and Estimate Presentation

For some clients, visualizing the possibilities of what your finished basement will look like is difficult.  We will provide you with preliminary layout options that are sure to get you excited. It is important to remember that this is NOT the meeting where we are making final layout decisions.  This presentation is to give you the vision of what is possible given your existing home and lot.

With any major construction project the numbers we shoot for are always important to understand.  What numbers can we manipulate throughout the design process to help you come up with a budget?  The answer to that often comes from what you as the consumer are willing to sacrifice to make the budget work.  Without a plan set the estimating process for your home addition has deviations that will be reviewed with you.  We want you to understand the flexibility in your decision making and how things can be impacted by the decisions we make during pre-construction.

One More Note

Typically with a finished basement an architectural plan set is NOT required.  SG Home Builders will provide you with a permit set that meets building code requirements.  If structural changes are made, then an architect will be involved, which will add to costs and pre-construction timelines.

The Ball Is In Your Court

Once we have completed our Preliminary Project Review for your home addition, the ball is in your court to make a decision and execute the pre-construction agreement.
